ARCHITECTS FOR CUYAHOGA VALLEY ASSOCIATION'S NOVEMBER LODGE MULTI-PURPOSE FACILITY JOIN IN BUILDING DEDICATION CEREMONIES

Schmidt Copeland Parker Stevens is proud to have been a part of the Cuyahoga Valley Association's November Lodge project. As the architectural and landscape architectural consultant for this project, Schmidt Copeland Parker Stevens was responsible for the site selection, site plan, facility design, interior design and landscape architectural plans for this multi-purpose program facility.
"It has been a reward for our firm to work with a client such as the Cuyahoga Valley Association (CVA) and all of the staff at the Cuyahoga Valley Environmental Education Center (CVEEC)", said Richard T. Parker, Principal of Architecture. "For the past 25 years, our firm has been involved in the design of recreation and education facilities for private and public organizations throughout the United States. The ability to bring our knowledge and experience home is a real joy for us."
Conceived as an opportunity for the CVEEC to demonstrate its commitment to environmental responsibility, the 6,630 square foot November Lodge, will operate year-round and was designed to be flexible for large and small group activities. It holds a large multi-purpose room, remarkable art room with sky lights to allow for natural day lighting, breakout areas, a computer lab, lending library and staff meeting area.
In addition to the traditional architectural services required for this project, the firm worked closely with CVA, CVEEC, the National Park Service and the entire project team to develop an ongoing monitoring and evaluation system to implement the sustainability practices throughout the life cycle of the facility.
"Finding a client interested in following environmentally sustainable design practices was very exciting for the firm", said Patty Stevens, Principal of Environmental Planning and Design. "The CVA, and CVEEC are pioneers in the environmental field. Their construction of wetlands for waste treatment, program development, and this new facility, will assist in their efforts to educate area groups and organizations on how to better preserve and protect our environment."
