ARCHITECTS FOR STORER DINING HALL PROJECT JOIN IN GROUND BREAKING CELEBRATION
|
We are sure that you have returned to Storer Day to rekindle the fond memories you or your children established here as campers, staff members, committee members, or volunteers. For our firm, we return with memories of the Storer that was, and dreams for the Storer that will be.
Schmidt Copeland Parker Stevens is proud to be a part of the July 11, 1998 Dining Hall Ground Breaking and Storer Day festivities. We are based out of Cleveland, Ohio and have served as the architectural, landscape architectural and planning consultants for the YMCA of Greater Toledo for the past 21 years.
For Mr. Gregory Copeland, principal and landscape architect, Storer has meant more than just a professional client/service relationship. In 1977, Mr. Copeland began working with Todd Schmidt on Storer for then, Todd Schmidt and Associates. This camp was only the second YMCA camp he had worked on, and the YMCA of Greater Toledo selected the firm to create the camp Master Plan for Storer Camps.
"Working for Storer, changed my entire career, because for the first time I realized that designing camps was not based on the land or the buildings, but the ability to positively influence children's lives", said Copeland.
Now 21 years later, Schmidt Copeland Parker Stevens, has worked for over 35 YMCA organizations and has been here to see the creation of an updated Master Plan, the building and design of two new lodges, and now the ground breaking of the new dining facility, Malachi Hall.
Mr. Richard Parker, principal and architect, has over seen the actual design and construction of the dining hall. He and Mr.Copeland will be speaking at the ground breaking.
"We are honored to be able to express our landscape architectural and architectural talents to such a valued organization", said Parker. "We are excited that Schmidt Copeland Parker Stevens and our designs will be a part of Camp Storer and each of the campers experiences for years to come."
Schmidt Copeland Parker Stevens has been serving clients nationwide since 1973. The firm is composed of architects, landscape architects, planners, and interior architects. Though the firm specializes in various areas of architecture and design, we are well known nationwide for our expertise in camp planning and development.
